Healing Through EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process and heal from distressing experiences. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use this approach to help clients move through trauma, anxiety, and other challenges that feel stuck or overwhelming.

What Is EMDR?

EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation — such as guided eye movements — to help your brain reprocess traumatic or distressing memories. Rather than talking through every detail of a painful experience, EMDR allows your brain to naturally move toward healing, often in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy alone.

Research has shown EMDR to be highly effective for trauma and PTSD, and it is recognized by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association as a recommended treatment for trauma.

What EMDR Can Help With

While EMDR was originally developed for trauma, it has proven effective for a wide range of concerns:

  • PTSD and complex trauma
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Phobias and fears
  • Disturbing memories that feel unresolved
  • Negative self-beliefs rooted in past experiences
  • Performance anxiety

What to Expect

EMDR therapy follows a structured eight-phase approach. We begin by building a foundation of safety and identifying the memories or experiences to target. During reprocessing sessions, I guide you through bilateral stimulation while you focus on specific memories, allowing your brain to process them in a new way.

Many clients describe EMDR as feeling like a weight has been lifted — memories that once triggered intense distress begin to feel more distant and manageable. You remain in control throughout the process, and we always work at a pace that feels safe for you.

My Training

I completed specialized EMDR training through an EMDRIA-approved program, equipping me with the skills to integrate this modality into my therapeutic practice. I combine EMDR with my broader training in trauma-informed, integrative therapy to provide comprehensive care tailored to your unique needs.
